A Private Caribbean Island Resort In The British Virgin Islands

Guana Island covers 850 acres and is one of the largest of the British Virgin Islands. It is very much a private island resort, a real getaway. You’ll get there by boat having been greeted at the Airport at Beef Island and transferred to the dock for a short ride on the island’s own boat where you will be liberally supplied with cold beers or bottled water.
After arriving on Guana Island you ride up to the Great House on Golf Carts , and after familiarization of the ‘local rules’ you are taken to your room, which is one of only fifteen rooms in white stone cottages, so the maximum number of guests at any one time would be thirty. Thirty guests in over eight hundred acres is not what anyone could call crowded but then again one has to assume that anyone on a private island honeymoon or wanting a total getaway would be looking for.
By the way if fourteen other couples you don’t know is too much for you, it isn’t difficult to book Guana Island in its entirety for your family and friends, and have the wedding on your own, very own private island!!
Rooms are spacious, with a separate sitting area and a private terrace with glorious views. The bathrooms have an extra large shower and good amenities. If you seek the ultimate in privacy making your getaway honeymoon on Guana that bit more special then you can book North Beach Cottage which is extremely private, hidden away on its own beach with a private pool and a golf cart to transport you back to the Great House. It has spectacular views of the Atlantic from everywhere and has its own kitchenette.
Guana Island is all inclusive, in that you get three meals a day plus wines at dinner and lunch, afternoon tea, coffee and snacks, plus all activities on the island and WiFi internet service even though this is supposed to be a private island getaway, so who needs it!!
You will pay an extra charge for Massages, beverages outside meal time wine, water skiing, fishing trips, sunset cruises, castaway picnics, lessons from tennis professional, yoga, scuba diving, boat charters, and visits to other islands.
All in all Guana Island has seven quite superb beaches, and although described as a five star Caribbean Resort it ought to be best described as rustic luxury. If you need 21st Century facilities and constant entertainment then this private island getaway won’t be for you.
However if you are happy to explore this island retreat, enjoy the views, and the beaches, meet interesting people who feel like you do, then you can’t go far wrong on this unique British Virgin Island resort.
For example you won’t find air conditioning in your room, but ample sea breezes to keep you cool.
No radio or television, what a treat in itself, in fact because of the size of the island you can escape and spend hours by yourself if that is what you want to do. Having said that there will always be a member of staff with a warm smile, offering unobtrusive but very effective friendly service. In fact you will feel like royalty the service is so good
Private island honeymoon food needs to be special, and the five star resort of Guana Island doesn’t disappoint. The menu changes every day, and is fresh according to what is available. Meals are served dinner part style on a picturesque patio overlooking the ocean below. If however you want to dine alone as part of your romantic honeymoon then this is easily fixed for you.
Breakfast has the classic buffet, but also cooked specials, in fact almost anything you want. Lunch is also a buffet, and could be barbeque, or calamari, quiche, and it’s different every day.
Dinner which follows the traditional cocktail hour is a set menu although there is a choice of entrée. The food is a culinary masterpiece so don’t be put off by the apparent lack of choice, and the desserts are just heaven.
Guana Island may not be for everyone but for a private island Caribbean honeymoon it is unbeatable. The best Tortola Hotel if you need a private island getaway by far.

What is the best all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean to have a wedding & have affordable travel expenses?
Right now, I’m trying to stay away Jamaica, Dominican Republic & Puerto Rico – and Mexico. Also, I think the U.S. & British Virgin Islands will be too expensive. Any suggestions? Other islands: St. Lucia, Bahamas, Grand Cayman, St. Kitts, Barbados,et
I’m currently looking for an amazing boutique resort in the Caribbean that has an all-inclusive option for my wedding. Preferably, I would like to have the ceremony on a cliffside overlooking the ocean, rather than in the sand. It’s very important for travel expenses (airfare & hotel) to be affordable for my guests to come. I would like to keep it around $1,000/person if possible – or I fear not that many people will come! Other preferable amenities are great food, spa services, great service in general, private beach access if not situated directly on the beach, water activities/tours (i.e. cruise for guests around the island), and it would also be great to be able to fly directly into the island – has to have its own airport.
Cool info! Secret Harbour is nice place to visit and 120 vacation homes inspired by the world’s most beautiful maritime villages, is the next major development within Grand Cayman’s only sea-to-sea resort community.
I respect the fact you want to stay around a certain budget for your guests. The other thing to is not everyone is going to either want or can afford to go for a full week and that rules out St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Barbados. For the record I do not work on commission so my answers on not based on that in any way. Travel IS up in 2007 much more over 2006 so that to will play a factor into your options. Also when you plan on getting married, are there charters from your city, how far in advance you and your guest’s book because prices increase as availability decreases.
Cayman is VERY expensive so I would cross that off as well. Bahamas might be doable, but off what you list that is the only one I foresee as a "maybe". The 3 places you said no to, Jamaica, Mexico and Dominican Republic are going to BE the top choices if price is a big factor.
Depending on which airport you are flying out of is going to determine if it is non-stop and please mind you for an All Inclusive 2,000 US dollars really doesn’t go all that far…..then again it depends on how long you are wanting to do and stay within 2,000. A lot is going to be how much airfare is and the rating of the hotel you choose. Keep in mind that hotels internationally are not the same rating scale as in the US. So a 3 star there is not like a 3 star here at all. I have booked hundreds of destination weddings so in this info I speak from personal experiences of weddings I have coordinated for couples.
Destination Weddings can be difficult to coordinate alone. I would strongly suggest finding a destination wedding specialist in your area to help you with the planning. Please do me a favor to, don’t use an agent for info only to just book on your own. If you find a good agent we really do work VERY hard for you in finding the best we can for not only what you want for a wedding location, but within reason of budget.
Best of Luck to you and congrats on your engagement!

I am currently booking a weeding for one of my clients at the Coyaba Beach resort. They give me a deal thats around $800.00 for each of your guests coming form places like New York or Chicago.
I think you would like it.
If not Sandals is the absolute best place for weddings and then Superclubs.

Right now, Punta cana, Dominican republic is the best place to go for that, nice, unexpensive, and I’m sure you will have the best time of your life there. http://www.bookit.com/

Better economic solution: Take a cruise. The prices are way below $1000. The ship will do everything. Some cruises are below $500. Most can be had between $500-700. It includes everything: Food, entertainment, lodging, transportation…airfare is extra. Besides, with enough people you can get a group rate.

Guana Island sounds perfect! I have been to the Caribbean via a cruise, and I loved all the islands we visited. Guana is now the next on my list; the idea of natural beauty, privacy, seclusion, rustic charm, and just the bare, essential contemporary necssities really appeals to me. I am sure it is the exact location to find further imspiration for the sequel to my popular, adult novel, “Whispering Palms”, which is set on a very similar, paradise island.
