Honestly there is not much that you can do. Its stated in your info that ports could be missed and you pretty much agree to it when you make your reservation. Your port fees being reimbursed is very fair to me. The rest of what you paid was to cover your cabin service, fuel, water, the food you ate. Have you ever heard of a free cruise? I sure haven't.
References :
My husband and I were also aboard the Carnival Ecstasy that departed April 27,2009. We were married on April 26th and this was to be our honeymoon and first cruise. The night before I checked to make sure we were still going to Mexico and we were told yes. The morning of 4/27 an enlaw called and was told that even if we did not go to Mexico we would definatly port somewhere.

The first day aboard there were speculations because people were told different things when they called Carnival prior to boarding. The morning of day 2 the Captain's spokesperson informs us that they are looking for a port for us to visit and there will be an update by 5pm. We go about our daily activity thinking all is well. After 5 pm the Captain gives us all of the nautical configurations including the swelling before telling us they are still looking. The Captain's reception is held at 5 on night 2 for early dinner goers and in poor taste the Captain did not show. At around 8:08pm the announcement is made that we will not be visiting any ports. To add insult to injury they announced they would refund $40 per person for port charges. I don't know about anyone else but we paid $238 in port charges.

Why didn't they just take us back to Galveston? Being on the water for 5 days was brutal. The Ecstasy is not a huge vessel so by day 3 we had seen everything. Many of us wondered around or stayed in our cabins watching the movie of the day over and over. Everytime an announcement was made everyone would stop whatever they were doing to see if there had been a change.

We went to the debarkation talk in the Blue Sapphire lounge at 1:00 on Friday and was told about a medical emergency and that we would be headed home early and would be updated at 4:15 about being able to disembark that night. When he said we could leave the ship early at the rescheduled disembarkation talk I cried. Not because I was going to miss anything but because it hit me that they were not going to do anything for us. It was all over.
We live 5 hours from the pier and my husband was so angry about the whole trip we still left that evening as did many. We got home after 4am on Saturday.

As we were leaving out stateroom our attendant jokingly asked if we wanted to stay and go to Jamaica and we said no we are going home tonight. Little did we know that the passengers set to leave Saturday for Progresso/Cozumel were being rerouted to the Cayman Islands and Jamaica, recieved 2 extra days and a $250 onboard credit.

I also went to Carnival's website and found that if the passengers did not like the new itinerary they could get a full refund in the form of a credit to be used on a future cruise upto a year from now. What the heck?
I called my travel agent to see if Carnival had contacted them about compensating any of their clients and she said "no". She did give me their fax number and said that we should all complain and make sure to put it in writing. The number she gave me is (305) 406-4718.

My husband and I were also interviewed by channel 11 news here in the DFW area but so far the story has been bumbed due to the Cowboys practice facility collasping yesterday. However that will not stop me from continuing to fight for compensation.
We will never have the week of 4/27/2009 back but Carnival is going to make this right for all of us.

And as for "palmrafan" missing one port because of unforseen weather is one thing but when you are well aware of the issue beforehand and lie to the passengers that is something totally opposite. If we would have ported in the Florida Keys we would have been happy. Pertaining to the sick person if she had had a heartack or something of that nature she would have been airlifted or the Coast Guard would have meet the vessel whereever it was at sea and would have gotten her swift medical attention. Waiting over 10 hours is not prompt nor life saving.
Finally, my husband and I as did others did purchase the CSA insurance which many of us would have tried to use if we would have been told the truth in the begining. We have posted this to try to find those that were aboard the vessel to try to get something out of our vacations. Your vain attempt at demeaning or downplaying the experience we encountered in not productive to our cause and offered nothing to the question.
References :
So you had a cruise to nowhere? You knew before you boarded the ship that there was the possibility that you wouldn't be going to your ports. Or you should have been able to figure it out.

ASSUMING that the medical emergency on the trip was real, and it could have been especially if the ship kept going back and forth from Galveston to the ports of call (in Mexico), you got upset because they had to honor someone's medical emergency? Should they have simply told the person, gee, we're sorry but your medical emergency (heart attack or issue, miscarriage, diabetic issues, etc.) isn't serious enough for us to turn around because we don't want to piss off our paying customers?

You gotta be kidding me! You DID purchase travel insurance didn't you? If not, that is your fault, no one else.

Ships from time to time won't stop in a port for one reason or another. We missed Cayman Islands last year because of the high winds and we could't tender by small boat into shore. Were there upset passengers? You bet. But the crew did an impeccable job of making it up to them. They put on special talent shows, the actors performed 3 times instead of 2 that day, the chefs made special desserts, etc. The captain did a great job of keeping us informed as to what was going on.

You want a perfect vacation? Try a staycation, as in your own back yard. That way then you have no one to blame but yourself if it isn't perfect.

So you didn't like it. Take a number.
References :
I doubt you are going to get much of a response on Yahoo Answers. While the changing of ports is well within their rights on terms and conditions of purchase, I do agree you were short changed and deserve some sort of compensation. This has happened to many individuals that have booked tours with ports in Mexico. It doesn't look the people are having much luck with the companies though.

My suggestion is to try your posting on the Cruise Critic board. The link to the Roll Call for that particular cruise is below. It looks like a lot of people made the best of it and enjoyed what the ship had to offer, but I certainly can understand the disappointment of no ports. Good luck!
