How can you get last minute deals on cruises ?

I want to go on a cruise in August and live in Tampa.
How would I go about getting a discounted cruise?

If the ship isn’t completely booked they sometimes will reduce prices at the last minute on any cabins that remain, but of course, you won’t have much choice of cabins.

Surprisingly, I have found the best deals by looking at some of the travel websites that specialize in cruises and just booked online. It doesn’t make much sense, but I have found that they were actually cheaper than booking directly from the cruise line websites. I’ve found the online booking websites to be at least $20 per person less.

You can verify that you are getting the best deal by checking on the cruise line’s website for the same cruise and cabin category and see what their price is.

I’ve included a link to a website I’ve used in the past that might have some cabins left at a good price. Good luck!

A travel agent should be able to help you, or you could take a look at the web site Vacations To Go, which is http://www.vacationstogo.com.

Mary is correct, but in the cruise industry, the best prices ARE NOT last minute but when you book like a year in advance. After that the price of a cruise continues to get higher. But vacationstogo have a place called 90 day ticker. This is where to look for the best deals on last minute cruises. BTW, just got back from my third Alaskan cruise. A big tip is to find an Alaskan cruise that goes to Glacier Bay as there is nothing like it in the world.

Here are some tips and sites:

Here a few simple tips for getting the best price on your cruise:
Cruise when most kids are in school. As less demand equal lowers prices, cruise when other can’t.

    1. Surf the web for deals. This will help you the sailings with the lowest demand, but don’t buy at the price advertised. As cruise lines only let agencies promote retail prices, you can do better.

    2. Once you find a sailing you like, you need to get custom quotes directly from agents. You can contact each agency yourself, or you can put a quote request into http://www.CruiseCompete.com and let the agents come to you with their best offers.

    3. When you compare offers, always make sure you’re comparing apples-to-apples. While all CruiseCompete quotes include all charges to make them easy to compare, many sites don’t add all charges until the final booking screen. Also, consider the value of onboard credit provided for your cruise especially on Royal Caribbean-owned lines. An extra $100 in your onboard account is just as good as a $100 discount off of your cruise fare.

vacationstogo.com is a great site, and I check it all the time. The problem with getting the best price is that does not equate to the best deal. You may be getting the best price, but you are getting the worst room. I would much prefer to book way in advance.
